Nigel's thatching career started in 1989 as an apprentice to a New Forest Master Thatcher. Attending Knuston Hall thatching College, as part of his apprenticeship, Nigel trained utilizing all the traditional thatching materials, including long straw, combed wheat reed and water reed. After completing his apprenticeship, Nigel travelled extensively throughout the United Kingdom, Holland and Germany before settling in Somerset in 1996. Demand for Nigel's work however is extensive and often takes him all over the uk.
